The highlight of the trip was meeting legendary artist <strong>Paul Goodnight</strong>.<br /><div><div><br /><div><a href="http://g1fineart.com/blog/uploaded_images/PG_Guitar-779978.jpg"></a>We have been captivated by his art for almost twenty years, since first seeing his art at the <strong>"Black Expo"</strong> in New Orleans. <strong>"Brazilian Heartprints,"</strong> a serigraph, was the first piece of his that we saw, and ironically the first piece of his that <a href="http://g1fineart.com/blog/uploaded_images/PG_Guitar-747738.jpg"><img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://g1fineart.com/blog/uploaded_images/PG_Guitar-747723.jpg" border="0" /></a>we collected nearly fifteen years later.<br /><br /></div><div><strong>Paul</strong> has a new Jazz series out, entitled, <strong>"No Strings Attached,"</strong> which pays tribute to the rich heritage of American Jazz culture. <strong>"Guitar"</strong> is the print pictured to the right. Each print is a Limited Edition Giclee, measuring 17.5” by 22.5”, and sells for $350. This was our first trip to the show that is billed as one of the top venues for collectors of fine African American art.<br /><br /><br />This was the 12th year for the show that features over 38 dealers and galleries presenting artwork from 19th Century Black artists <strong>Henry O. Tanner</strong>, Harlem Renaissance Artists <strong>Romare Bearden</strong> and <strong>Jacob Lawrence</strong>, current Master <strong>Elizabeth Catlett</strong>, current Emerging Artist <strong>Evita Tezeno</strong> and others.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://g1fineart.com/blog/uploaded_images/seen-my-baby-787257.jpg"><img style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" height="211" alt="" src="http://g1fineart.com/blog/uploaded_images/seen-my-baby-787234.jpg" width="171" border="0" /></a><strong>Evita's</strong> artwork is gaining in popularity. Having done ten <strong>NBFAS</strong> shows, this was by far her best, selling out all of her displayed art over the five day show.<br /><br /><a href="http://g1fineart.com/blog/uploaded_images/miss-mabel-had-a-yellow-house-email-735605.jpg"><img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 115px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 234px" height="212" alt="" src="http://g1fineart.com/blog/uploaded_images/miss-mabel-had-a-yellow-house-email-735594.jpg" width="109" border="0" /></a><br /><a href="http://g1fineart.com/blog/uploaded_images/seen-my-baby-731225.jpg"></a>Collectors are responding quite favorably to her new work. <strong>Evita</strong> sold <strong>"Seen My Lady Home Last Night,"</strong> (above) the initial piece to her new series <strong>"Negro Love Songs"</strong> by poet <strong>Paul Lawrence Dunbar</strong> and <strong>"Miss Mabel had a Yellow House,"</strong> (r) inspiration to her new <strong>"Sharecropper's"</strong> series.<br /><br /><strong>Evita's</strong> grandmother was the daughter of a <a href="http://g1fineart.com/blog/uploaded_images/miss-mabel-had-a-yellow-house-email-731260.jpg"></a>sharecropper, and the stories that she heard served as inspiration to the series.<br /><br />She's already working on new pieces for both series, so we will take a more in depth look at them in our next newsletter.
